CFRP cylinders from TYP AG and TGW GmbH
We are your partner for robust CFRP cylinders that meet particularly high application requirements. Technically, our CFRP cylinders offer all the properties of conventional metal rollers but have a few additional advantages thanks to the composite material CFRP used: Our cylinders are characterized by their enormous performance, low weight and very high load-bearing capacity. We would be happy to advise you in detail about your options!
What is CFRP and where is it used?
Carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) is a composite material in which cylinders are embedded in a plastic matrix, usually epoxy resin. The matrix material is used to connect the fibers and fill the spaces between them. The mechanical properties of the cured composite benefit primarily from the tensile strength and stiffness of the carbon fibers. The matrix prevents the carbon fibers from shifting against each other under load.
CFRP is used in particular where increased costs are accepted in exchange for low mass and high rigidity. CFRP cylinders are used, for example, in packaging, printing, converting and other similar industries.
What are the advantages and properties of CFRP (compared to other materials)?
Carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) scores with a lower weight and increased performance and load capacity compared to other rollers and cylinders. The lightness of CFRP cylinders in particular improves machine performance. Further advantages of CFRP cylinders are:
- increased production output due to higher speeds
- lightweight, safe cylinders can be used for heavy-duty applications
- range of different strength and stiffness possible depending on the application
- more robust and durable than metal rollers
- reduced deformation and lower mass moment of inertia
- lower operating costs due to the lower energy consumption of lightweight rollers
- increased safety due to low weight
