Non-stick coatings for transport rollers and transfer cylinders

An overview of our non-stick coatings
RTV silicone coating
To ensure that our rollers guarantee a smooth process, we have developed a special RTV silicone compound (55° ShA) boasting continuous non-stick properties. Surface regrinding is therefore possible at any time without the effect being diminished. The silicone is applied to the ingot using a cold-casting process with the help of a tool mold.
Plasma coating (Excalibur system)
Plasma coatings are utilized as well (Excalibur system):
- First, the ingot is grit-blasted to achieve a rough surface so that other elements of the Excalibur system adhere better to it.
- Followed by the most important part: white-hot particles of a special stainless steel are sprayed onto the roughened surface.
- The cooled particles, firmly bonded to the surface, form a landscape of “hills” and “valleys”, and thus a permanent foundation.
- Several layers of special silicone fill the “valleys” and cover the “hills”, and are stabilized by the stainless steel “hills”.
Once the last layers of silicone have cooled, our transport rollers guarantee the following properties:
- Non-stick characteristics
- High resistance to wear
- Corrosion protection
- Insensitivity to temperature
Special nano-coatings
With nano-coatings, for instance, a fine film is applied to a roller or cylinder with an existing foam surface, which acts like a protective skin once it has cooled down. In this case, the foam provides a damping property, the outer skin closes the pores and has a non-stick effect at the same time.
